The killing of Yale student Annie Le was not random and only a small number of people had access to the building where her body was found, authorities said. Students gathered to remember Le on Monday, which would have been her first full day as a newlywed.
Police: Body found could be missing Yale student
Investigators found the body of a woman they assume is missing Yale graduate student Annie Le, a senior police official said Sunday. The remains were located inside a wall at 10 Amistad Street, said New Haven, Connecticut, Assistant Police Chief Peter Reichard at a news conference.
Suspect in 10 bank robberies arrested
A man suspected of robbing at least 10 banks in four states has been arrested, according to an FBI investigator and the Missouri State Patrol. Federal authorities used surveillance photos they posted on electronic billboards in eight Southern states to track down Chad Schaffner.
New York braces for another Gotti trial
The son of the late Gambino family crime boss John Gotti is set to stand trial yet again in federal court in New York. The government accuses him of participating in murder, drug trafficking and witness tampering. Defense attorney Charles Carpesi says the charges are trumped up. Earlier prosecutions have ended in mistrials.
Anti-abortion protester among 2 shot dead
A Michigan man was charged with murder in the fatal shootings of an anti-abortion activist and another man in a different location. Suspect Harlan James Drake was offended by anti-abortion material that activist Jim Pouillon, shown above, displayed across from a school, police said.

Police: Bone near Garrido home probably human
A bone fragment found near the California home where Jaycee Dugard is said to have been confined for 18 years is “probably human,” a sheriff’s spokesman said. The fragment, found in a neighbor’s yard, was analyzed by an outside expert. It’s headed to the state DNA lab for more testing.
Arrest in string of J.C. Penney burglaries
Authorities in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, say they have arrested a suspect and recovered more than million in stolen property in a multistate string of J.C. Penney store burglaries.
