A: We route your calls through our network to your already existing phone service.

Q: Is there anything done to the prison phone system?

A: NO, we do not touch the prison phones.  We are not permitted to. Nothing is done to your home phone either! We use call routing technologies. It does not interfere with the prison security systems.

Q: Are there any restrictions to using our service?

A: NO, as long as you have an existing phone there are none. You must keep an active line to receive calls at home or work. (Or Cell service)

Q: Is there a monthly charge for service?

A: Yes. The monthly charge varies depending upon which facility your loved one is located. You will be inform of that charge. Usually it is $24.95 to $36.95 maximum. About 90% of states are at $24.95

Q: What is the per minute rate I pay per minute?

A: All U.S. calls are $.12 1/2 cents per minute. That is to all cell phones, VoIP phones, and land lines.

Except HI, AK, and International. Per minute rates vary.

Q: Do I need to buy anything special to make it work properly on my phone?

A: Not at all. We use call routing technologies that allows us to transport that call to your existing phone. This requires NO software at all.

Q: How do I add money to my account?

A: Jail Calls takes credit and debit cards. We also accept Money orders and Western Unions.

Q: Do I receive a bill for services in the mail?

A: No. All calls are prepaid and you can view your account online for a balance whenever you like.

Q: What if I do not live in the United States?

A: We take care of many families that live in other Countries. As well as U.S. Cell phones abroad.

Q: If I have a block on my home phone can I still use your services?

A: Yes. Those types of blocks do not affect our service to you. Our system allows the call to go through if you have an account that is active.

Q: Prepaid Collect Calls- What are they

A: Calls that you pay in advance for from Jail Calls. You balance always rolls over and NEVER goes away for non-use.

Q: How do I view my call usage?

A: Online by logging into your account. Your account is open 24/7 for viewing and online payments.

Q: Prepaid collect calls-Are they allowed at my loved ones prison

A: Each facility is different. Sometimes a facility has debit card calling from the commissary and it is less expensive then Jail Calls. You should ask your loved one if it is available at their facility.

Q: Collect Calls from Prison- WHY are they only Collect?

A: It is supposedly for security reasons. Though lots of facilities have tried debit calling that they find hard to control and stop the extortion of inmates for these “money cards”.
